More details

It is located in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. The village itself is now famous for the oldest evidence of human activity outside of Africa with footprints discovered on the beach to be over 900 thousand years old. The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here. There is also a small shop and post office in the village.

The local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Crusoe author Daniel Defoe, cricketer W.C. Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helicopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village. The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons.

Accommodation:
Ground floor: Porch to tiny hall then left to the dining room with wood and coal stove, the kitchen and the conservatory then out to a small courtyard which is the perfect sun trap. Right from the hall takes you to the living room with open wood and coal fire which can be used as a bedroom sleeping on the bedsettee.

First floor: Straight stairs up to a landing with a double bedroom with room for the travel cot, at the front of the house, a shower room with walk-in shower, loo and washbasin and a single bedroom with an extra pull out child's bed.

We live next door and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay.

The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here.

Parking is on the very quiet lane outside the house. Bus stop 20 m from Albion Cottage but with an infrequent country service.
Train station 7 miles away.

Other things to note
Week long bookings usually start on a Saturday and short breaks start on a Monday or Friday, except at Christmas. We do not accept short breaks (less than a week) at peak times (school holidays) unless the booking is last minute. Out of season we can be more flexible with length of stay and start day.

If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with Albion Cottage at a special rate  www.thegighousenorfolk.co.uk
